Ick or Imagination? AI Sentiment in Women's Media

About

This project examines how artificial intelligence is framed across long-form YouTube videos and comment sections centered around women, from 2022 to 2026. Motivated by research showing women adopt AI at rates 25% lower than men and arguments that this gap reflects rational skepticism toward AI systems designed with submissive, feminized personas, the project asks: what is the sentiment of AI discourse in women's media across the AI boom, and how does that sentiment vary by domain? Using the YouTube Data API and yt-dlp, I built a primary dataset of 400+ videos spanning domains from careers and creativity to health, relationships, and politics, enriched with top comments per video and full transcript text.
